Words of Wisdom

As I kick off the three daily blogs, I have wondered what to keep saying. I have 50 years of writing and thinking, and only waking up today to show for it. But today is Grand. What is my best advice? It's simple, lighten up, loosen up and wake up.

Everywhere you look, YouTube, google, FaceBook and others, you find "10 signs" that...., "10 principles" that....."10 rules" that....,offering advice that comes from all places. Safety in numbers may well apply here. If there is but one rule, almost any person can judge the truth of the assertion, if there are 7 or 10, then opacity comes forth. With this multiplicity of considerations, the transparency of logic is lost in a cloud of comparisons. So my simple advice included three words, not one. Light up (don't take yourself so seriously), loosen up (have a relaxed but agile foundation), wake up (be present). Three words, but one state.

When I reflected on good times and hard times, I think the one, most important, paradigm shift, was when I decided I didn't need to be right all the time, or anytime, for that matter. In my 22 years of public talk radio, nary a season would pass, without my sharing with the listening audience, that I enjoyed finding out that I was wrong about something/anything, as I was then free of carrying a falsehood, sometimes proving to be a lot more dense and burdensome that I imagined.

We are taught to score correctly with our answers, in school, at home, and nearly everywhere we live or have lived. 7 of 10 passes, or is quite remarkable on Star Trek. 9 of 10 get's the brownie points and 10 of 10 gets the Gold Star. By being "awake", I am speaking of an objective perspective of your surroundings. Eventually, most people figure out the repetitive wrong 3 out of 10 answers, one hard knock's at a time. Philosophically, and religiously, this may take many, many life-times. In the realm of life and time/space, the spirit and soul are immune to any rigid constraints, or that is at least what I have come to hold true. This is one of the numerous truths that co-exist within nearly all present and past spiritual wonderings or religions. So lighten up, let go, and let God.
