Starting the 200 series of guitar tutorials. The little nuances of minor, augmented chords. An augmentation is an adaptation by depressing a string involved in the original chord, at a fret that fits the key. D is one of the most frequently augmented chords, as it resides in the bottom three strings, while the top three stay open, and work with all augmented D's. The standard D chord has the second fret depressed on the 4th and 6th strings, while the 5th string is depressed on the third fret. When you take the 5th fret down to the first fret, this is a D7, so the number 7 as a shift apply's to the 5th fret, and a D7, augment 9 would revert to a standard D.
These are the major, minor key shifts, but there are nearly a dozen other D key's or chords. Dm7 is the distinctive turn in While My Guitar Gently weeps, and another Dm7 moves the 9 to 7 and is a softer shift than the more common Dm7. All the remaining D shifts involve only the 4th, 5th and 6th frets, with shifts only extending to the 4th fret, so less finger reach, easier focus, and a frequent starting place for 200 guitar skills.
I share two songs on the pod cast already shared, and both from the Doors. They both have these minor shifts and Jim Morrison's poetry as muse.

Out of sight!
The lights are getting brighter
The radio is moaning
Calling to the dogs
There are still a few animals
Left out in the yard
But it's getting harder
To describe
Sailors
To the underfed
Tropic corridor
Tropic treasure
What got us this far
To this mild equator?
We need someone or something new
Something else to get us through, yeah, come on
Calling on the dogs
Calling on the dogs
Oh, it's getting harder, (Calling on the dogs)
Calling in the dogs
Calling all the dogs
Calling on the gods
You got to meet me, (Too late, baby)
Slay a few animals
At the crossroads, (Too late)
All in the yard
But it's getting harder, (By the crossroads)
You got to meet me
Oh, we're going, we're going great
At the edge of town
Tropic corridor
Tropic treasure
Having a good time
Got to come along
What got us this far
To this mild equator?
Outskirts of the city
You and I
We need someone new
Something new
Something else to get us through
Better bring your gun
Better bring your gun
Tropic corridor
Tropic treasure
We're going to ride and have some fun
When all else fails
We can whip the horse's eyes
And make them sleep
And cry
Obviously, I only highlight these song's as these are long versions arranged for concerts.
